Joe Biden’s campaign went on the attack Sunday with a new video advertisement just hours after a New York Times report on Donald Trump’s taxes. The video recounts without narration the average pay of several jobs, then contrasts that with the $750 Trump reportedly paid in 2016 and 2017.

The Times report extensively details years of alleged business losses and tax avoidance from Trump, including millions of dollars likely given to Ivanka Trump listed as "consulting fees," a possibly fraudulent tax rebate currently stalemated under review by the IRS and $421 million in debts due in the coming years.

The Biden campaign opted to lead instead with Trump's low amount of due taxes. The report alleges that Trump paid no taxes at all in 10 of the last 15 years, and only paid $750 the year he was elected and his first year as president.

The ad compares that to the average taxes paid for nurses, teachers, construction managers and firefighters, all of which are thousands more than Trump's payments.

Donald Trump took to Twitter to call the report “fake news” and said that his tax reports are in fact “very impressive.” A lawyer speaking for the Trump Organization told the Times that some of the allegations were false or incorrectly interpreted, but left many uncontested.
