Democratic nominee Joe Biden has seen his betting odds of winning the presidential election increase after Tuesday night’s debate

President Donald Trump is now a 6/4 underdog, according to BetFair Exchange, the world’s biggest political betting market. Trump is given a 40% chance to win November’s election, down from a 43% chance before the debate when he had 11/8 betting odds.

Biden’s odds are at 4/6, up from 5/6. Those odds suggest that Biden’s chances of becoming the next president have gone from 56% to 60%.

A bettor who places a $100 wager on Biden at 4/6 would make a $66.67 profit if the former vice president wins the election. Betting $100 on Trump at 6/4 would result in a $150 profit if the incumbent defeats Biden.

“Both candidates will claim victory in the debate but odds speak louder than words and Betfair’s Swing-O-Meter indicates that Biden's chances of winning the election have improved while Trump has lost ground,” Betfair spokesperson Darren Hughes said.

A CBS News poll indicates that Biden helped himself more than Trump in the debate. Some 38% of voters said the debate made them think better of Biden, and only 24% of voters said it made them think better of Trump.

While 42% of voters said the debate made them think worse of Trump, only 32% of voters said the same of Biden.
