"Justice League Dark: Apokolips War" has been designated as the final film in the Justice League shared universe. It all started by the Jay Oliva-helmed "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox" back in 2013. It had been successful and has since provided a template for how DCEU films should have been done.

According to IGN, the current film is the 15th and final film in the shared universe. It will also end the current run of the DC Animated Movie Universe, which included sequels and titles such as "The Flashpoint Paradox," "Son of Batman" and the aforementioned "Justice League Dark."

That doesn't mean that Warner Bros. would stop creating animated movies set in that universe, though. It will continue to create animated DC movies, although it hasn't been made clear whether these will be the start of an alternative universe. There are also rumors that these could be independent stories.

A sneak peek has recently made its rounds online and fans have seen what the movie might offer. According to Comic Book Movie, the movie features Darkseid making his way through the DC Universe. Kilowog and Nightwing are rumored to be casualties of this bloody journey. This also appears to be the setup which made "Apokolips War" seem like a final journey.

In the synopsis, it appears that the Justice League will be aided by the "Teen Titans" and the "Suicide Squad" to try and salvage their battle against the tyrant.

Matt Peters and Christina Sotta are the showrunners for "Justice League Dark: Apokolips War." The movie also boasts the "largest superhero cast" ever seen in a DC Animated Universe movie, promising "dozens of characters" each with their own unique spotlight and picked from the six-year story continuum.

Returning to lend their voices to their on-screen counterparts are Matt Ryan, Jerry O'Connell and Taissa Farmiga, who will be the people behind Constantine, Superman, and Raven, respectively. The trio is among the last line of defense against the rampaging Darkseid, who will be given life by Tony Todd. Jason O' Mara, Rosario Dawson, Shemar Moore and Christopher Gorham return to lend their voices to their characters as well.

"Justice League Dark: Apokolips War" makes its debut on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital in Spring 2020.
