It’s been 14 years since Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears dated but according to recent interviews from the two pop stars, they could get back together: to make music.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, E! News’ Marc Malkin asked Timberlake, 35, if he had heard about Spears, 34, wanting to work with him. “She did? Sure! Absolutely, absolutely,” Timberlake said. While Britney made headlines with her reveal, Timberlake admitted that he didn’t hear about the news and chalked it up to being a father.

“I have a 17-month-old so I don’t get the headline news,” Timberlake joked. “I apologize for not being in the know… I’m accessible, give us a call!”

Spears brought up Timberlake’s name during an August Q&A for “Most Requested Live with Romeo.” The “Make Me” singer was asked who she would like to collaborate with and after saying Aerosmith and Gwen Stefani, she threw out Timberlake’s name. “Justin Timberlake is very good.”

Spears released her ninth studio album, “Glory,” on Aug. 26. According to the pop singer, the album signifies a “new era” for her. “It’s been a really long time since I’ve done a new project, it’s been like a few years, it feels like a new era for me,” she told Radio.com. “I believe in change, and we’re already changing the format of the [Vegas] show. It’s a fun process, and it’s a whole creative thing and it’s a great body of work. It’s really cool.”

As for Timberlake, he hasn’t put out an album since 2013’s “The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2,” although he did release the single “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” from the “Trolls” soundtrack. The song has been certified platinum and went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
