Rap star Kanye West filed paperwork Monday to appear on New Jersey’s presidential ballot as an independent candidate, state documents reveal. West reportedly has collected 1,327 signatures, more than the 800 he needs to appear on New Jersey's ballot alongside Republican incumbent President Donald Trump and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

West has already managed to appear on Oklahoma’s ballot and has also filed in Missouri. West intends to make the same move in New York, but he will need 30,000 valid signatures by Thursday to appear on the ballot.

West announced his presidential run on July 4 and has started his own political party, “The Birthday Party.” The slogan for his campaign is “YES!” and his vice presidential running mate is Michelle Tidball, a little-known Christian preacher from Wyoming.

West made multiple bizarre statements about his political views in a recent interview with Forbes, saying that he believes “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work.” He has also called vaccines “the mark of the beast.”

During his first South Carolina presidential rally earlier this month, West controversially claimed that Harriet Tubman, an African-American abolitionist who helped slaves move north along the Underground Railroad, “never actually freed the slaves.” He also broke down in tears during the rally, claiming he and his wife Kim Kardashian almost decided to abort their first child.

Kardashian has urged the public to be compassionate towards her husband, claiming West suffers from bipolar disorder and needs urgent treatment.
