Karen Gillan once compared her newly dropped movie, "Dual", to the 2019 movie, "Avengers: Endgame." The actor said Riley Stearns, the director of the movie, laughed at her comparison, UPI reported.

"There was even one time when I said to Riley, 'Oh, this is like being on Avengers,'" the 34-year-old Scottish actress told UPI virtually over the weekend. "Which he seemed to laugh at because they were just very different movies."

The actress said that the comparison came because she played a character named Sarah, who is suffering from a rare terminal disease, and her absence is replaced with a clone. In the Marvel movie, she played Nebula who encountered herself from a different timeline.

Gillan noted that she was comfortable playing Sarah. "I'm probably more comfortable playing the real Sarah who's slightly more anxious and doesn't want to take up space," Gillan said. "This clone is someone without all of the neuroses almost. So I had to bury all of the natural neuroses."

She went on to explain that Sarah's character was someone who didn't take much space while the clone was very different comparatively.

"Sarah begins as someone who doesn't want to take up space, is more hunched and just isn't holding herself very well," Gillan said. "The double comes along and doesn't have that so she's got her shoulders down."

The 35-year-old director also opened up about Gillan's character and explained that she has "earnestness" and "positivity" while the clone was different.

"Sarah, even though she's unsure of herself, she still has this earnestness about her and positivity still that Sarah's double doesn't have," Stearns said. "I feel like she thinks she's better than everyone else."

"Dual" is a sci-fi comedy movie directed and penned by Stearns. The movie also stars Jesse Eisenberg, Aaron Paul, Maija Paunio, Martha Kelly and Beulah Koale. The flick was premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2022 last week.

Considering Gillan's upcoming projects, the actress will feature in a comedy movie, "The Bubble," which is helmed by director Judd Apatow. She will also feature in a movie, "Thor: Love and Thunder," which is slated to release on July 8, this year.

She is currently filming, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," which is scheduled for May 23, 2023. The movie will also star Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana and Pom Klementieff. Gillan will also feature in a TV series, "Rhona Who Lives by the River."
