Last year, before wedding Prince Harry, it was noted by a previous staff member of the British monarchy that Meghan Markle may not be properly suited for “royal life.”

Speaking to Express, royal butler Russell Grant said he believed Meghan’s now sister-in-life, Duchess Kate Middleton, was better suited for the royal family due to her upbringing.

“When the Duchess of Cambridge married into the family, she was British, she went to St Andrews, she has a good education. She was up on that, dare I say it, royal way of life,” Grant told the publication in an April 2018 interview.

Grant said becoming an official member of the royal family after marrying Prince William in 2011 was close to “second nature” to the Duchess of Cambridge. He also noted that things would likely be different for Meghan, who became the Duchess of Sussex after marrying Prince Harry last May.

“With Meghan, it’s a completely different upbringing,” he stated.

While Meghan may have grown up differently than Kate, Grant said her past career as an actress may help her transition. "The positives for Meghan I think is the duty of royalty has to have an element of acting about it - you have to put on a brave face, put the best foot forward, smile, say the right thing,” he said.

"I think she’ll find it quite easy, I think she’ll have her own take on it.”
