Kate Middleton has broken royal protocol too just like her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went on an official trip to Germany last year. During their tour, they visited Poland and dropped by Strassenkinder, a charity that supports children. When the couple arrived, Middleton greeted the children with big hugs, which is a violation of the royal protocol.

In the photos shared by Daily Express, a girl hugged the duchess and reportedly told her, "That's nice of you." A second snap showed another youngster embracing the royal mom-of-three from the side.

Just like Middleton, Markle has broken the same protocol several times following her engagement to Prince Harry. In fact, during their visit to Edinburgh Castle in Scotland, the Duchess of Sussex surprised charity co-founder Alice Thompson when she brushed off her handshake for a hug.

"It was at the end when I went in for a handshake with Meghan and she just embraced me," Thompson recalled. "They were both so genuine - showing the kind of interest and good nature you can't fake."

The two duchesses have broken the royal protocol several times. Aside from giving hugs, Middleton was also seen giving high-fives and squidgy squeezes in Stockholm.

Etiquette expert William Hanson previously advised the royals to stop being too close to the public. According to him, the members of the Firm should act like a royal and stop being "one of us."

"For me, royalty should be royal. They are not supposed to be like 'one of us.' They must all be nice people, yes (and they are), but it seems that it's now all a bit too chummy and informal," Hanson wrote.

"We all know that royal funding is not the most secure fiscal fixture. The more that the royal family behaves like your average Joe, the weaker the argument is to give them that funding," he continued. "We don't fund them to be like us. If they are just like any other family, then what's the need to subsidise them? Why not give us the funding then, instead?"

In related news, Prince William and Middleton are still enjoying their summer holiday. In fact, the couple is reportedly on the second leg of their vacation. It is believed that the family of five is in Norfolk after returning from Mustique.

"The Cambridges are definitely at Anmer as William travelled to and from France via RAF Marham Norfolk," royal historian Cepe Smith wrote on Twitter.
