She is usually admired as setting a high standard when it comes to the way members of the royal family should behave, but even Kate Middleton likes to break a rule or two when it comes to doing things her own way.

When it comes to raising her three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, Middleton is known for trying to do some things that don’t follow royal tradition and protocol, like letting them all travel together, despite a rule which states two heirs (her eldest son and husband) aren’t allowed to travel together. However, she also likes to break other rules as well.

According to Express UK, during the Chelsea Flower Show this year, Middleton’s garden was a child’s paradise, and her children enjoyed playing at the display, which included a rope swing and other kid-friendly elements to the design and was meant to be reflective of her own childhood memories. However, by letting Prince Louis, 1, and Princess Charlotte, 4, play at the display she technically broke a rule of the Royal Horticultural Society.

The RHS website reportedly states that they don’t allow children under the age of 5, or any pushchairs or babies into the Chelsea Flower Show. However, the Duchess of Cambridge was able to still secure access for her kids at the event, which was her bending the rules once more for them.

Of course, Middleton is also known for occasionally breaking other rules as well, including ones that are related to royal protocol. While Meghan Markle has notable worn dark polish on her fingernails at points, something the Queen doesn’t approve of in favor of neutral shades, Middleton has been sneaking a pop of color onto her own nails for years—by opting for a deep red on her toes.
