The British royal family is known for following a strict set of guidelines and protocols, but during the holiday season, it appears they are a little more relaxed.

In the Dec. 30 print issue of Us Weekly, it is revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are more lenient in regards to what their children eat come Christmastime.

Noting that Kate Middleton wants to “ensure her kids have a magical Christmas,” the Duchess is reportedly known to shy away from noticing her older two children -- Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 4, -- sneaking sweets from the “huge tree” erected at their home of Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

“...George and Charlotte have been sneakily taking candy from the branches when mom and dad aren’t looking,” noted the magazine.

An insider added, “Kate knows, but since it’s Christmas she lets them get away with having a few more sugary treats than usual.”

While Kate and Prince William are said to let their eldest kids go to town on their edible Christmas tree decor, they are facing a different problem when it comes to their youngest, 1-year-old Prince Louis, and their holiday tree. “They don’t want Louis to pull it down!” a source revealed.

The publication noted that the Cambridges will be spending Christmas morning at their country home before heading to Queen Elizabeth II’s nearby Sandringham estate church service and lunch.
