Kate Middleton and Prince William will embark on a three-day tour to visit and thank frontline staff and community workers across the U.K.

On Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will begin their 1,250 mile-journey on board the royal train that will include stops in England, Scotland and Wales.

"The countdown to the #RoyalTrainTour begins! Starting tomorrow, The Duke and Duchess will travel across the UK - paying tribute to the inspiring work of those who have gone above and beyond to support communities during this challenging year for the nation," Kensington Palace announced on Twitter.

To kick off Prince William and Middleton's trip, Joe Whale, better known as the 10-year-old Doodle Boy, created a drawing to celebrate.

"This piece of artwork is an interpretation of the #RoyalTrainTour from young British artist Joe Whale (@TheDoodleBoy1), who designed the artwork to bring to life the upcoming tour. Thank you Joe and keep up the great work!" the palace wrote in another tweet.

Kensington Palace stated in a press release that Prince William and Middleton will follow government guidelines while visiting "frontline workers, volunteers, care home staff, teachers, schoolchildren and young people to hear about their experiences, sacrifices and the inspiring work they have done" throughout the year.

Prince William and Middleton's tour, which ends Tuesday, aims to celebrate community spirit and demonstrate the impact of public generosity this year, according to their announcement.

It will also showcase organizations and initiatives that have been supported by community relief funds, including NHS Charities Together. In addition, it will highlight the U.K.'s arts, heritage and live performance sector, which had been badly hit during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, royal fans have mixed opinions about the couple’s tour. Some were happy, while others expressed concern over the Cambridges traveling during this time.

"As a committed socialist, I can’t help but admire The Duchess of Cambridge. And it comes to something when people of the Left see the monarchy as one of the progressive forces in public life!" one Twitter user commented.

"Sames! I'm left wing, I feel like a lot of my values are represented in William & Kate. Whatever you think of Charles personally his beliefs are left leaning (farming, sustainability, multi faith cooperation, environment)," another wrote.

"Or you could... Stay Home, Protect The NHS, Save Lives? Just a thought while everyone is unable to travel or meet people," a third Twitter user posted.

"Not objecting to the intention of it, of course. But government guidance starts with 'If you can work from home...' Not sure roaming different areas and Tiers sends the right message," the netizen added.
