Kate Middleton and Prince William will be informed of a potential threat by their protection officer in a particular way.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge just kicked off their tour in Pakistan on Monday. The trip was considered the most complex tour to date for the royal couple.

Richard Fitzwilliams said earlier that there was a chance the trip would be canceled if the protection officers were not satisfied with the security arrangement. Apparently, the couple was given a go signal to proceed with their royal tour.

According to Simon Morgan, who served as a bodyguard to the royals from 2007 until 2013, there is an “unwritten understanding” when it comes to informing the royal couple of potential threats. Protection officers do not have superhero powers, but they are trained to see things in a different way than the average person does and this gives them an advantage to warn Prince William and Middleton ahead if they see any danger.

“This comes down to how you communicate, sometimes by non-verbal communication and body language, or by a direct action or command,” Morgan told Insider.

“It’s about having that rapport, and clearly showing you [the protection officer] are not happy with something. Clearly showing a path they need to take and they need to follow without causing alarm. There’s nothing set, it all comes down to that and the protection officer and the principal knowing each other well. It’s all about that trust.”

Markle was criticized when she cut short her walkabout during her Fiji tour in October last year. According to Morgan, when protection officers say “we are leaving” then they should be leaving. But he understands that the media perceive it in another way and not what led to the decision.

In related news, Prince William was criticized for not opening the car door for Middleton when they attended an evening reception in Pakistan. According to netizens, the future king was not a gentleman for failing to assist his wife.

Some royal fans also slammed the duke for being so different from Prince Harry during their respective royal weddings. Prince Harry made sure that his bride, Meghan Markle, was comfortable and was seated before he sat beside her. On the other hand, Prince William immediately sat after climbing the carriage and just waited for Middleton to figure out her way into the transport.
