Numerous fans see Kate Middleton and Prince William as a perfect couple despite the controversies and countless criticisms being thrown at the Royal family. Though the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be experiencing marital troubles lately, the pair continue to prove that their marriage is getting stronger by the day.

Kate, Prince William, and their three children are expected to celebrate Christmas together with Queen Elizabeth and the other members of the Royal family – of course, except for Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and baby Archie who are said to be in the United States – at Sandringham Palace this year. Though the Cambridge couple is often perceived as #CoupleGoals, most followers are not aware that Prince William, once, made Kate cry when he canceled their plans at the last minute.

Royal biographer Katie Nicholl claimed that Prince William upset Kate Middleton when he failed to fulfill his vow of joining the Duchess’ family in celebrating Hogmanay – a Scottish term for the last day of the year – in 2006. Kate was, allegedly, waiting for Prince William to arrive. However, to her dismay, the elder brother of Prince Harry changed his mind and decided to celebrate the holiday with his family instead.

“For William, it was no big deal, but for Kate, the cancellation was a sign of something more sinister to come,” Katie wrote in “The Making of a Royal Romance” book, as per Daily Express. “William had been having second thoughts and sat down with his father and his grandmother to have a frank discussion about his future with Kate. Both advised him not to hurry into anything,” she went on.

Despite Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth’s alleged warning, Prince William still pursued Kate Middleton. The couple, then, tied the knot on April 29, 2011, in Westminster Abbey. During the reception, Katie Nicholl claimed that Kate cried again upon hearing Prince Harry’s heartfelt speech.

“It was affectionate, warm and funny and touched William deeply,” Katie revealed in the “Harry: Life, Loss, and Love” biography. “When he said the couple’s decade-long romance was his inspiration, there was a shy smile from Chelsy, while Kate shed a tear,” the royal biographer went on.
