Kate Middleton’s parents gave Prince William something that he had lost after Princess Diana’s death. And Queen Elizabeth couldn’t be happier that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ended up together.

In an article that she wrote for The Sun, royal expert Ingrid Seward said that Middleton’s parents, Michael, and Carole Middleton, gave Prince William the opportunity to have an ordinary family life without the pressures of the appointments and engagements that Prince Charles has.

After tying the knot in 2011, Prince William spent a lot of time with his wife’s family and he felt very at home with them. In fact, the second in line to the throne was so comfortable around his in-laws that he used to lie down on Carole’s lap. Prince William also drank and talked to Michael for hours, and he started calling him dad.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s close-knit family has been a true inspiration for Prince William and Middleton especially when they had kids of their own. As such, Her Majesty was not worried about her grandson marrying Middleton because she knew that the latter had a stable family life.

“Seen the problems created by Diana and Fergie’s lack of stable family life – but there were no such concerns about Kate. An ordinary girl from a solid background, this was someone who had the indispensable family support to sustain her through the rough ride to becoming royal,” Seward said.

However, the same cannot be said about Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson. The two female royals came from complicated backgrounds and broken families. As such, they struggled to cope with the pressures of their royal lives.

Princess Diana and Fergie previously opened up about their insecurities, and they both felt that they weren’t suited for their roles. At present, Meghan Markle is also struggling with her role as a royal, and it is important to note that she also comes from a broken family.
