Katy Perry has revealed that before her daughter Daisy Dove's arrival last year, she used to wish to have twins.

The singer, who is currently serving as a judge on "American Idol," explained on Sunday's episode of the singing competition series that she changed her mind about how many kids she wanted to have after welcoming her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom in August last year.

During the second week of auditions, two contestants — teenage siblings Liahona and Ammon — said that they were born "exactly one year apart."

Fellow judge Luke Bryan joked, "That means a lot of recovery [time]," referring to their mom.

Perry then chimed in, saying, "No! No recovery!"

"I used to wish for twins, and then I finally had a child, and I go, [that's] crazy," added the "Roar" singer, who then appeared mortified after the two contestants said they are the oldest of eight children.

Despite the difficulties that come with giving birth to and raising a child, Perry is one happy mom. In a series of tweets in September 2020, she shared her experience of being a working mother.

"Popular misconception: being a mom isn’t a full-time job," she tweeted, adding in a follow-up post, "Part 2: when a mom finally goes back to work (whatever profession they do) it’s not like they been coming from months of ‘time off …’ she’s coming from a full time job … of being a mom, lol.”

She also urged fans to show more appreciation to their mothers. "Part 3: call your mom and tell her you love and appreciate her and advocate for paid family leave!” she wrote. She concluded by saying: "Part 4. I love my job."

Perry and Bloom announced in August that they had welcomed her first child, daughter Daisy Dove. The couple shared the happy news through UNICEF's official social media pages.

"Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors @KatyPerry and @OrlandoBloom’s new bundle of joy," read a note posted by UNICEF.

The charity also shared a message from the star couple, who said they were "floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter."

Perry and Bloom, who are goodwill ambassadors for the charity, drew attention to the communities around the world that are experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and said that a pregnant woman or newborn dies every 11 seconds, "mostly from preventable causes."

"Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever," the couple said.

"In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival. By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your (heart) can bloom with generosity," they continued.

The note was accompanied by a black and white photo of the baby holding her father's finger. Perry, on the other hand, held on to her child's wrist.
