Kim Kardashian opened up about co-parenting with ex-husband Kanye West in a podcast interview with Angie Martinez on Monday. In the episode, Kardashian discusses the efforts she goes through to protect her kids from the news that circulates around West and their family.

"I definitely protected him...and I still will, in the eyes of my kids and for my kids," the reality-TV star said of her ex-husband.

West, 44, and Kardashian were married in 2014 and divorced this year. West has stirred controversy this year with frequent antisemitic commentary, including praise of Adolf Hitler. He also attended a November dinner with Donald Trump and white supremacist Nick Fuentes.

The rapper lost deals with talent agency CAA, Balenciaga and Adidas. The rapper has allegedly revealed explicit photos of Kardashian to staff and repeatedly bashed Kardashian on Instagram and Twitter for arguments involving custody of their four children–North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

"In my home, my kids don't know anything that goes on on the outside world," Kardashian, 42, told Martinez during the "IRL" podcast episode on Monday. She asserted that the media her children see online and on TV is monitored and restricted to ensure that they aren't exposed to stories about West's controversial behavior.

"I'm holding on by a thread...but while it's still that way I will protect that to the end of the earth as long as I can," Kardashian continued. She also said that she knows teachers and parents within her children's schools which allows her to monitor any language or stories that may be relayed to her children outside of her home.

"So, at school, some of my best friends are the teachers, so I know what goes on at recess, I know what goes on at lunchtime and I hear what's being talked about," Kardashian said. "None of the kids have ever said anything to my kids." She continued, saying that her children "aren't on social media" except for North, who has access to a TikTok account on Kardashian's phone.

She got emotional when discussing her father's impact on her life. Her father, Robert Kardashian died in 2003 two months after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

"I had the best dad..." Kardashian said through tears. "It's hard, co-parenting. It's really f–ing hard."

"I had the best memories and the greatest experience, and that's all I want for my kids," she continued. "If they don't know the things that are being said or what's happening in the world why would I ever bring that energy to them?"

Some have attributed the rapper's recent actions to his struggles with mental health. He has been open about his struggle with bipolar disorder. According to the National Alliance for Mental Illness, bipolar disorder causes "dramatic shifts in a person's mood, energy and ability to think clearly" including high and low moods known as mania and depression. The artist's 2018 album, "Ye", had cover art that included the phrase "I hate being/ Bi-Polar/ it's awesome."

The podcast episode discusses several other topics that have surrounded the SKIMS founder this year including backlash from a May interview where she said "it seems like nobody wants to work these days." Kardashian received criticism online for being wealthy and privileged while telling people to work harder. She also shared details about her neutral minimalist home, which she matches her staff's style to. Kardashian said she created a style handbook for her employees, who dress in all neutral colors.
