Labor Day, also known as the unofficial end to summer, is celebrated on Monday. This day was created to honor workers from 100 years ago who were forced to work 12-hour days, seven days a week.

Most Americans throughout the country have an off from their regular work schedules on this day. This day is a federal holiday, which means the government closes most of its nonessential offices, including post offices, social security offices and states' department of motor vehicle.
