Lady Gaga paid tribute to Tony Bennett in a touching performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards. On April 3, the pop singer hit the stage of the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas with a rendition of “Love for Sale” and “Do I Love You” in honor of her good friend and musical legend, who recently bid goodbye to acting during two shows with the “Bad Romance” singer.

The performance opened with a video introduction from Tony himself. Following the introduction, Lady Gaga, clad in a powder blue gown, sang on stage as photos of her and Tony played in the background. Towards the end of the performance, the pop icon teared up and looked into the camera, saying, “I love you, Tony.”

The “House of Gucci” star was nominated in five categories alongside Tony at this year’s Grammys, including Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Music Video for their rendition of “I Get a Kick Out of You,” as well as Album of the Year and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for their “Love for Sale” album.

Ahead of the telecast, it was announced that Lady Gaga and Tony had won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, making the 95-year-old Queens-born crooner the second-oldest winner in the history of Grammy Awards. Before Sunday’s award show, Lady Gaga and Tony had 12 and 18 Grammys respectively under their belts.

“Love for Sale” is not the duo’s first collaboration. In 2011, Lady Gaga appeared on Tony’s album “Duets II.” They also dropped in 2014 their joint album “Cheek to Cheek,” which also bagged awards at the Grammys. Last November, they hosted two performances at New York’s Radio City Music Hall in celebration of Tony’s 95th birthday, titled “One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.”

During the EW and People’s live red carpet show ahead of the Grammys on Sunday night, Danny Bennett, Tony’s son, talked about his father’s friendship with Lady Gaga. “The age disappears,” he said. “It’s the passion. It’s real. They love each other. When you watch them in their videos, it’s real. And she is so down to earth, and he’s down to earth,” he added.
