LeBron James on Tuesday will play his first game at Madison Square Garden in three years when the Los Angeles Lakers visit the New York Knicks. James has made it no secret how much he loves playing on the road against the Knicks, and it should be no surprise that the superstar has impressive career numbers in those games.

James' stats against the Knicks include averages of 26.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. In his career with the Lakers, Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers, James' teams have a 46-10 record against the Knicks when the four-time NBA Finals MVP takes the court. James is shooting 49.8% from the field and also averages 1.8 steals in those contests.

Those numbers are very similar to James' career stats overall. When James plays at MSG, however, he appears to raise his game.

On the road against the Knicks, James is averaging 28.2 points per game. Only Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant have higher scoring averages in New York as an opposing player since the ABA-NBA merger in at least 15 games played at MSG.

A few of James' more memorable performances in the Big Apple stick out among the rest. In 2009, James had 52 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists in the Cavaliers' 107-102 win over the Knicks.

The Lakers beat the Knicks 100-92 on Jan. 22, 2020, in James' last road game against the Knicks. James put up 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Anthony Davis led the way for Los Angeles with 28 points in just 30 minutes.

James enters Tuesday just 117 points away from surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA's all-time leading scorer. At 38 years old, James is scoring 30.2 points per game, the third-highest mark of his illustrious career.

The Knicks are 27-24, good for the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference. With a 23-28 record, the Lakers are 13th in the Western Conference.
