LG Electronics recently unveiled a new kind of dual-display smartphone called the LG Wing. This device has a front panel that swivels to reveal a secondary display underneath. The smartphone, which has an obviously novel design, is but the first of many in what the company calls the Explorer Project – an initiative that aims to discover more ways to make smartphones exciting again.

Those who are interested in the LG Wing can get one from carrier Verizon, The Verge reported. The device can be preordered now and will be shipped to buyers later this month, starting Oct. 15. The device costs $41.66 a month for 24 months or a total of $999.99.

Consumers who want the device but find the price a little too expensive will be glad to know that Verizon will give up to $750 in discounts, depending on how the buyer wants to get the LG Wing. Those who port in a number to Verizon when purchasing an LG Wing handset can get a Verizon eGift card worth up to $250.

Existing Verizon customers who trade in an eligible device on select Unlimited Plans when purchasing an LG Wing can get up to $500 in discounts. For those who will trade in an eligible device and add a line on select Unlimited Plans when purchasing an LG Wing handset, they can get up to $750 in discounts.

Specs and Features

The LG Wing features a unique swiveling mechanism that allows the 6.8-inch primary OLED display to be rotated, revealing a 3.9-inch secondary OLED screen underneath. Both screens can function at the same time, giving users a smartphone experience that's different from any other.

The device is powered by a Snapdragon 765G chipset, allowing it to support 5G networks. This SoC is backed by an ample 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for all of the user's photos, videos, music and files. It runs on Android 10.

The device features a triple-camera array at the back, comprised of a 64MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP Ultra Wide Gimbal Motion Camera. It has a 32MP selfie camera that pops up from the top of the display. The device also has a 4,000 mAh battery.
