Last week, police in Westerly, Rhode Island, apprehended 32-year-old Iowa native David Page Liddle near Taylor Swift's home after he was reported for "acting suspicious." "The Archer" singer owns a home in the neighborhood where Liddle was found.

According to TMZ, reports were called in due to Liddle wearing a backpack with a metal bat sticking out. When police arrived, the suspect tried to flee, but was eventually intercepted.

Liddle told police officials that he had just returned from New York, Nashville, and Memphis, as he was trying to "catch up with Taylor Swift." He stated that the reason behind his pursuit of her was that he wanted the singer to assist him with his music career. Once his backpack was searched, police additionally found more than 30 lock picks, gloves, a flashlight, a crowbar, screwdrivers, and a rake.

This was not the man's first attempt at getting close to the pop star, reports The Westerly Sun.

"He has a history - security guards at the home told us that he was already on a watch list because there were concerns he could pose a threat," Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey told the newspaper, adding, "It is our understanding that he may have visited other properties belonging to Taylor Swift in the past."

In conjunction with the fact that he was allegedly seen near her property earlier that day, cops had enough reason to arrest Liddle. He was then booked with possession of burglary tools and a weapon other than a firearm. At the time of his arrival, Swift was not at her property.

As of Tuesday, Liddle remains in custody with bail set at $10,000. He was also ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and to refrain from contacting the singer in any way.
