A Youtuber who built a set of robotic legs for snakes has created a buzz online after posting the video of his bizarre invention.

Allen Pan, an engineer who happens to be a huge snake enthusiast, decided to build cyborg legs for the reptiles because he felt bad for them.

"I actually feel bad for snakes. They lost their legs and nobody is even trying to find them," he says in the clip, explaining his decision to play God by giving snakes legs.

In the caption of the video, which has amassed more than 2 million views since it was posted last week, Pan wrote, "God made a mistake."

The video opens with Pan approaching a reptile pet store that hosts a reptile birthday party. The engineer, who claims it's his birthday, asks the staff at the store about snakes' legs. In response, the man explains that the animals only have "vestigial legs" that can no longer be used for walking.

Scientists believe snakes used to wander the Earth on legs about 150 million years ago. This was before they evolved and started slithering on the ground.

"When any other animal has deformed legs, humanity comes together to spit in god's face and we build that animal awesome new cyborg legs," Pan says in the video, according to LADbible.

"But nobody loves snakes enough to build them robot legs. Nobody except for me, snake lover Allen Pan," he adds.

The video then shows Pan trying out two pressure sleeves and spider-like robotic legs on a toy snake. However, he soon realizes that the snake does not need more than four legs and that the animal can use more support in the middle than at the two ends.

Pan then designs a prosthetic with a hollow tube and custom-made robotic legs, which a snake can choose to put on and off. These robotic legs are attached to servos that can be controlled from a laptop.

Once the machine is ready to be tested, Pan approaches a random snake breeder online who agrees to try the machine on his snake.

A few attempts later, a python can be seen in the video slithering into Pan's machine. He successfully operates the robot, allowing the snake to walk.

"And now you can walk your snake, just like god never wanted you to," Pan says, as per Gizmodo Australia, adding that he now has proof of his love for snakes as he has designed something thoughtfully for them.
