A man killed his father before chopping his body into pieces and stuffing them into buckets. The horrifying incident took place in Hyderabad, the capital of southern India's Telangana state on Friday.

Police responded to the scene Sunday morning after receiving a report of a foul smell coming from a home. Upon arrival, the officers found buckets in the home which had parts of a man’s body including the severed head and limbs. Police said the accused, identified as Kishan, killed his father, 80-year-old Maruthi, before fleeing from the scene.

"Human remains were found in six to seven buckets. Two women were found in the house; a woman and her daughter. The woman said that her son, Kishan, had killed her husband and chopped him into several pieces with a knife, before stuffing the body parts in buckets and running away," police said.

Though the exact reason for the murder was not known, police said the suspect was unemployed and frequently asked for money from his father because of which they had frequent arguments.

"There used to be frequent fights over financial matters between the father and son. We are investigating the case," police said.

Meanwhile, the two women found in the home were detained for questioning.

“The murder took place on Friday. Mother and daughter claimed that they did not report about the murder fearing threat from the suspect,” police said.

The suspect remained at large as of Sunday night and the investigation was ongoing.

In a similar incident in New Delhi in May, a man killed his father and chopped his body up into 25 pieces. Police said the suspect, identified as Aman, and his father had frequent fights over a property. On the day of the incident, Aman and his father again got into an argument and in a fit of rage, the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times. He then “chopped the body into 25 pieces and stuffed them into two bags and some black-coloured polythene packets bought from a chicken shop.” However, his neighbor saw him keeping the blood-stained bags in the car and immediately alerted the police, who reached the scene and took him into custody.
