Juan Gonzalez, a 59-year-old man from Miami Beach, Florida, was arrested Friday for touching a 7-year-old girl inappropriately over her dress.

The incident took place when the girl was standing in the checkout line in a Sedano’s Supermarkets. The accused was standing behind the girl and touched her privates several times. The girl was accompanied by her father, but did not tell him anything until they were going to leave the store.

When informed about the incident, her father immediately contacted the store manager, and the two of them checked the CCTV footage. It showed Gonzalez touching the girl's buttocks and genital area over her dress. After seeing the video, the girl's father caught the perpetrator who was about to leave the store.

While the father held on to Gonzalez waiting for the police to arrive, he was threatened by the molester who tried intimidating him with a pocket knife. While brandishing the knife, Gonzalez said, “If you hit me, I’ll stab you,” CBS-affiliate WFOR-TV reported.

Police arrived soon after and checked the surveillance video, following which Gonzalez was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under the age of 12 and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

City of Miami Police Officer Kiara Delva said, “When you hear something like this it is very disturbing and makes your blood boil."

She added the police didn't believe at the time “any other victims are involved.”

Meanwhile, Sedano’s Supermarkets spokesman Javier Herran said, “At Sedano’s, our customers’ safety and well-being have always been one of our top priorities. Our hearts go out to the victim and her family. We are fully cooperating with authorities in their ongoing investigation, and thus, cannot comment further.”
