Pasadena, Texas -- A 22-year-old man, who allegedly shot his girlfriend multiple times, has told the police he did so because he thought she was an intruder.

Bobby Wolfe was charged with manslaughter for fatally shooting his live-in girlfriend, 23-year-old Chrisheena Lamontrici Lee, inside their Pasadena apartment at around 3.28 a.m. Monday.

Wolfe made the 911 call to report the incident, and said “he had accidentally shot his girlfriend,” according to a Pasadena Police Department news release, the News & Observer reported.

Responding officers said they found Chrisheena with “multiple gunshot wounds.”

Investigators said Wolfe fired at least seven shots, six of which had struck Chrisheena. She was taken to the hospital, and later pronounced dead, Click2Houston reported.

"I'm hurting because my baby's in the morgue. My oldest granddaughter," the victim’s grandmother, Annie Lee, told ABC13. "He didn't have to shoot her six times."

Wolfe cooperated with investigators at the scene, and said he shot his girlfriend because he thought she was a burglar. The cops found the apartment door had some damage, but they could not tell if it had occurred recently.

"We're going to collect shell casings. We're going to look at the trajectory of the bullets and compare that to his statement and try to see if everything matches up. If it truly is accidental, obviously this is a very sad situation," Sgt. Raul Granados said Monday. "If he did believe there was a break-in and, in fact, there wasn't, he ended up shooting his loved one. It's a very difficult situation for him."

“If there was an intruder, obviously, we want to find maybe doorbell cameras, maybe cameras at the apartment complex, to see if we are going to have to look for a suspect out there, or what happened at the door that startled him enough to get his weapon out and start shooting,” Granados continued.

Chrisheena and Wolfe share a 2-year-old child, who was with another relative when the incident happened.

"We're going to have to tell her that her mom was a beautiful Black woman. She loved her," Annie told the outlet. "I want to give a message to all the women, men, boys and girls. Domestic violence is no game. I hear about it on TV all the time, and it hit my home."

The deceased woman’s family said they were not buying Wolfe’s story.

"I want the charges upgraded, the murder, life sentence, yes I do," Annie added.

Chrisheena has “been getting away from him. She's been telling the family he's stalking her," the victim’s cousin, Tasha McCoy, told the outlet. "He just wouldn't leave her alone."

"He should be in jail," another cousin added. "You didn't have to go to this extent, and then you lie about it, and cover it up. It just doesn't make sense."

The man was arrested and charged with manslaughter, and was being held on $500,000 bail as the investigation continued.
