A 48-year-old man was shot dead during a home invasion Thursday night in Racine County in Norway, Wisconsin, authorities said.

Police identified the suspect as Troy Hoffmann, 40, who fled the scene in a 2009 white Toyota Sienna with Wisconsin license plate number AFV-9734. Hoffman rammed his car into another car, which was parked in a driveway in the 25700 block of West Loomis Road at around 7:30 p.m. EST, Christopher Schmaling, Racine County Sheriff, said.

Police said he is still on the run and is considered "armed and dangerous". Sheriff Schmaling warned people to remain watchful and dial 911 in case they spot him.

Hoffmann fired multiple shots aiming at the home and ultimately forced his way into it. He fired some additional shots after entering the house, which struck the victim. The latter was then taken to Ascension Hospital in Franklin for treatment where he was pronounced dead.

Police didn’t reveal the victim’s identity but said he was the only person shot in the home. There were other people present in the house at the time but they were able to escape unhurt.

Police are searching for another home invasion and fatal shooting suspect in Harvey, Illinois. Harvey police released his images Thursday seeking public help to locate him. The armed suspect shot a man, identified as Antwan Hawthorne, 33, multiple times on Dec. 18 after the latter confronted him for barging into his home. Hawthorne was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead in less than half an hour. Police said children were present in the house at the time of the incident.
