A 59-year-old man in Genesee County, Michigan, won $1 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket he had bought at a gas station while refueling.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous, was so excited over his Winning Millions prize that he left the Speedway located at 3340 Owen Road in Fenton with the gas pump still hanging out of his car.

"I was so excited, I forgot I was filling up with gas and drove away with the gas pump still in my car," the man was quoted as saying by Michigan Lottery, which operates the Winning Millions lottery game the man won.

"Winning Millions has been my favorite Lottery game since it came out," said the winner.

"I stopped at Speedway to get gas and decided to get a ticket while I was there. I started scratching the ticket while my gas was pumping," he recalled. "When I saw I’d matched the number 14 and then revealed the $1 million amount underneath, I started yelling: ‘Are you kidding me?!'"

The man then visited the lottery headquarters to claim his prize, which he chose to receive as a lump sum of approximately $634,517 rather than get annuity payments for the full amount.

According to the lottery winner, he plans to buy a home and a new car and go on vacation with his winnings.

"I have been playing since the Lottery began and finally won big," the man said, adding, "Winning a $1 million prize is life-changing."

A father and son in Chesterfield County, Virginia, were just as lucky when they won a $5 million prize over a week ago from a scratch-off ticket that they had bought.

Kirt Martin Jr. and Kirt Martin Sr. said they had been playing scratch-off lotteries two to three times a week for the last decade before they finally won from a 50x The Money ticket they had bought a few weeks prior.

They were awarded a large check by the Virginia Lottery on May 28.
