Marley (Notlim Taylor) reveals to her parents that she already has a crush in school in Season 1, episode 3 of NBC’s “Marlon.”

While Ashley (Essence Atkins) is pretty cool about her daughter having her first crush, the same can’t be said of Marley’s dad, Marlon (Marlon Wayans). According to the synopsis for episode 3, Marlon struggles to come to terms with his daughter bringing home a boy for the first time.

In a sneak peek from the episode, Marlon and Ashley are surprised when Marley walks out from her room with some over the top makeup on her face. “I don’t know if you guys can tell but I put on a little make up,” Marley tells her parents.

While Marlon and Ashley find Marley’s makeup a little too much, the pair decides not to tell her about it to avoid hurting her feelings.

“No, it looks so natural. I didn’t even notice,” Ashley tells Marley.

“I thought you woke up like that,” Marlon comments.

But when her younger brother Zack (Amir O’Neil) arrives home and tells her that her face makes him “wanna have a Happy Meal,” Marley reveals that she’s trying to put some makeup on because her school crush asked her if he can come over and study with her for their geometry test.

Ashley thinks it’s wonderful, but Marlon can’t believe that his daughter is now a big girl.

Meanwhile, in Season 1, episode 4 — as revealed in the synopsis for the installment — Marlon and Ashley contemplate whether to have no strings attached “ex sex.”

The idea is brought up while they are playing Never Have I Ever drinking game with their friends Yvette (Bresha Webb) and Stevie (Diallo Riddle). In a sneak peek from the episode, Yvette happens to pick up a card that reads: “Never have I ever had sex with an ex.” Yvette, Stevie and Marlon all take a sip from their drink, but not Ashley, who admits that she’s never slept with an ex, even with Marlon following their divorce.

“I assume the only reason you let Big Head hanging around here is because he’s breaking you off every now and then,” Yvette says. “I read an article on BuzzFeed that said something like 38 percent of divorce couples have occasional sex, and it’s perfectly healthy.”

“If we wanted occasional sex then we would have stayed married,” Marlon replies.

“Marlon” Season 1, episodes 3 and 4 air back-to-back on Wednesday, Aug. 23 starting at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
