A Maryland man was arrested for the random Monday Greyhound bus shooting on along Interstate 5 on Tuesday.

Capitol Heights resident Anthony Devonte Williams, 33, was accused of opening fire inside a Greyhound bus travelling from Los Angeles to San Francisco on Monday night.

It was through the efforts of the passengers to subdue him that Williams exited the bus and was taken into police custody.

In a Fox News report, a passenger, Mark Grabban, 29, who was on the bus with his girlfriend, overheard the victim muttering incoherently to himself.

“He was just saying weird stuff like ‘you don’t know me like that,’ ‘wait till we get to the station,’ ‘get away from the dude in the striped shirt',” Grabban said in an Associated Press report.

Grabban heard eight to nine shots from when he hid under the seat in front of him and thought hhe was shot when he smacked his head as he ducked.

Police reported that the killed passenger was a 51-year-old woman from Coulmbia while a man, 45, and a woman, 19, were critically wounded and the remaining injured victims were a 39-year-old woman, and men aged 49 and 50, respectively, KABC-TV reported.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Brian Pennings said that Williams did not know any of the victims. Williams is now in jail at Kern County, facing attempted murder charges.

According to online charges, Williams pleaded guilty to the possession of an unregistered firearm which came from an arrest seven months earlier and which led him to serving a suspended 10-day jail sentence.
