After years of being one of the faces that helped Americans wake up, Matt Lauer’s legacy was essentially erased during the “Today” show’s 25th-anniversary celebration.

The anchor, who was fired from NBC in 2017 following sexual harassment allegations was left off of a five-and-a-half-minute video montage highlighting pivotal moments in the morning show’s history.

According to RadarOnline, Lauer was felt devastated after learning he was left out of the reel, and some insiders believe he may retaliate by punishing the network.

“Yes, he messed up. He said he would never talk bad about the show, but after this — he might rethink that,” the alleged source said.

Rumors suggest Lauer was left out of the anniversary video because of his inappropriate behavior. However, insiders revealed the journalist felt the allegations shouldn’t have erased his history on the show. “Matt made that show number one for decades,” the insider said.

The tipster claimed the snub “wasn’t an accident or oversight! It was a deliberate decision to erase him, and it hurts like hell.”

Although Lauer apologized for his behavior after he was fired, the anchor claimed some of the allegations made against him weren’t entirely true.

“Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly,” he said in a statement.

As for the “Today” show anniversary video, Lauer was reportedly “shocked and hurt to be edited out of the 25th year celebration.”

“The show pretends they are all family members until something goes wrong. That’s when real families stick together. The whole place is phony. These people are not even decent friends, let alone TV’s first family,” the tipster revealed.

Following his termination from the network, Lauer spent a majority of his time at his family’s Hamptons estate. However, the home is reportedly on the market amid reports the journalist and his wife, Annette Roque are negotiating the terms of their divorce.

Neither Lauer nor Roque has addressed the state of their marriage.
