  • Matthew Perry and Molly Hurwitz end their engagement after seven months
  • Perry will be next seen in "Don't Look Up"
  • He was last seen in "The Kennedys: After Camelot" in 2017

Matthew Perry and fiancée Molly Hurwitz have split, calling off their engagement after seven months. The two started dating in 2018 and got engaged in November 2020.

The "Friends" star did not address his breakup on social media. He, however, told People that they separated their ways. "Sometimes things just don't work out and this is one of them," Perry said, adding: "I wish Molly the best."

When Perry, 51, proposed to his literary manager, 29, last year, he called Hurwitz one of the "greatest women on the face of the planet."

The split news came after the highly-anticipated "Friends: The Reunion," which premiered on May 27. During the reunion, Perry met his former co-stars from the sitcom -- Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer. It was filmed on the show's original soundstage in Burbank, California.

Perry took his Instagram last year to announce his engagement, and Hurwitz also confirmed the same on her social media account. Before the couple made their relationship Instagram official, they were photographed together outside a restaurant in West Hollywood.

A source said in February that the couple became so close that even Perry's close friends including Courteney Cox were hoping that they would get married. "His inner circle has wanted to see him settle down for a long time, especially [former Friends costar] Courteney Cox, and they hope him and Molly go the distance," the insider had said.

Perry had previously dated many women, including Julia Roberts, Yasmine Bleeth, Neve Campbell, Maeve Quinlan, Heather Graham, Lauren Graham, Rachel Dunn, and Lizzy Caplan.

The actor was in a relationship with Caplan for over a half-decade before parting ways in 2012.

On the work front, Perry will be seen in a comedy movie, "Don't Look Up," which is helmed by Adam McKay. The movie is currently under post-production and will release on Netflix. It also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, and Ariana Grande.

Perry was last seen in the movie "17 Again," which released in 2009. He also made a television appearance in 2017's "The Kennedys: After Camelot," a miniseries with only four episodes.
