Meghan Markle has been accused of faking her laughs at this year’s Royal Variety Performance.

Host Greg Davies’ comedy intro saw him recalling the funny things his mom and his friend said about the royal family. One of his jokes seemingly left Prince Harry and Markle confused.

After the Royal Variety Performance was aired on television, critics couldn’t help but notice how the Duchess of Sussex’s laugh looked fake and took their thoughts to Twitter.

“Meghan is fake smiling and laughing the whole way through this,” one person wrote.

“I don’t think Meghan got the joke… that fake laugh wasn’t kidding me!” another person tweeted.

“All the jokes are going over Meghan’s head like!” one fan commented.

“Do you think Meghan Markle dreamed of being a princess she ever thought it would involve spending 3 hours watching Rick Astley, Clean Bandit, and Mr. Gilbert from The Inbetweeners?” one person tweeted.

“Watching #RoyalVarietyPerformance for Hamilton. But also to see Meghan look really confused over British humor,” another person wrote.

But some royal fans came to Markle’s defense, saying that she has all the reasons to fake laugh during Davies’ stint. After all, the host was just not funny and no one really got his jokes.

“This is awful, Greg Davies is just not funny… 3 hours of this… poor Harry and Meghan,” one fan tweeted.

“Meghan’s not getting the jokes. Neither are we though for different reasons,” one person wrote.

In his stint, Davies joked about Queen Elizabeth II’s swans and getting into trouble if he ate them. When he asked his mom if she was planning to eat one, his mom told him, “not on purpose.”

Prince Harry and Markle attended the Royal Variety Performance last month on behalf of the Queen. Prince Harry attended his first Royal Variety Performance three years ago, and this year’s gathering was a first for Markle.

While at the event, Markle was photographed in her Safiyaa top and skirt. Prince Harry wore a suit and tie. Before entering the London Palladium, Markle first greeted some of the fans that were waiting for her outside.
