While fans were surprised to learn about Meghan Markle’s collaboration with Vogue, it appears the announcement may have been an attempt to cover up her and Prince Harry’s Frogmore note scandal.

On Monday, British Vogue revealed Meghan will be a guest editor on the September issue titled, “Forces for Change.” Along with her personal touches, the issue will also feature a conversation between the Duchess of Sussex and the former First Lady, Michelle Obama.

However, after Meghan and Harry came under fire for a list of rules given to their neighbors in Windsor, royal expert Angela Mollard claimed news of Meghan’s contributions to Vogue was used to save the couple’s public image.

“There’s another story we are going to be talking about, and I think they dropped this story to try and mask that one – which is about a lot of stuff happening at Frogmore Cottage,” she said during an appearance on “This Morning.”

“There was this public meeting, apparently, where this official told members of the public in the Windsor Great Park area that they could not approach the Duchess and Duke of Sussex.”

Although the palace denied rumors suggesting Meghan and Harry requested neighbors follow their demands, Mollard insisted the damage was done.

“They couldn’t ask for the name of their dog, they couldn’t offer to babysit Archie, if they do say something it was to say ‘good morning.’ There was this list of rules and what’s happened is this makes the Sussexes look ridiculous,” she said.

The commentator went on to say the palace’s attempt to explain the reasoning behind the list of rules made the couple look even worse.

“The Palace has put out a statement saying that it was well-meaning and well-intentioned that this official had wanted to help them have their privacy. But it has reflected badly, it does make them look like stuck up ponces,” Mollard explained.

Recently, Meghan and Prince Harry have been criticized for their attempts to protect their privacy, and it appears the palace’s latest attempt to do some damage control has done little to help the couple.
