Meghan Markle is seemingly taking inspiration from Queen Elizabeth II by carrying gloves with her during her recent family gathering.

The Duchess of Sussex was spotted with her olive green gloves at Prince Louis’ christening, and this is something she has not done since she wed Prince Harry on May 19.

Isabella Sullivan, a journalist for Express, noted that the weather was quite hot during Prince Louis’ christening last Sunday. As such, Markle didn’t have to bring or wear a glove to the gathering. However, the 36-year-old may have been following in the monarch’s footsteps.

Queen Elizabeth II always wears gloves to public engagements regardless if they are official or personal trips. She typically does so if she knows she will be shaking hands with other people. The monarch’s gloves are created by Cornelia James, and they are being used to protect her from dirt and damage.

Markle was last seen with her gloves on Christmas Day when she joined the royal family for their morning service in Sandringham. At that time, Markle has not yet been married to Prince Harry.

In related news, Prince Harry and Markle attended Prince Louis’ christening merely as guests. Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t choose them to be their son’s godparents. But even though they have not been given the important role, Prince Harry still made sure to commemorate his nephew’s special day by giving him an expensive gift.

Francesca Specter, a journalist for Express, revealed that Prince Harry gave Prince Louis a $10,000 original copy of AA Milne’s book “Winnie the Pooh.” The gesture was done as a nod to Prince Harry’s mom, Princess Diana, who read him storybooks growing up.

An insider told the journalist, “Diana loved all the old classics and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, Charlotte, and George to enjoy as they get older. He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s ‘Through the Looking Glass,’ which was on sale… but decided ‘Winnie the Pooh’ would be more suitable for a first tome.”
