The Meghan Markle Effect has been rebranded.

Meghanpedia decided to rebrand Markle’s “Meghan Effect” to “Meghanomics.” Netizens have different opinions about the new term. Some agreed that the new one is better, but others prefer the original term.

According to James M., he prefers the “Meghan Effect” because the new term “Meghanomics” sounds like a college or finance class. She added that Markle’s “Effect” pertains to a beautiful and caring woman who wears anyone’s clothes, goes anywhere and patronizes any places. She added that it was the “exciting part.”

Another user finds it interesting. However, it reminded her of economic policy by Ronald Reagan that attacked the 1980 recession and stagflation.

“‘Meghanomics’ having to do with economics, interesting concept, though somehow it reminds me of ‘Reaganomics’ with all its not so positive connotations, just a thought,” Maureen Thompson wrote.

Meanwhile, Shell said that it’s a “great term.” User Busiswa G said that she likes it.

The word “Meghanomics” was actually coined in 2018. Larry Elliott used the term in his article for the Guardian, titled “The answer to Britain’s productivity crisis? Meghanomics.”

“There’s nothing quite like a royal wedding to get the British to part with their cash, so in one respect the idea that the new Duchess of Sussex could be good news for the economy is a statement of the blindingly obvious,” Elliott wrote in his article. “Retailers have had a tough time recently, and a bit of Meghanmania was just what they needed to get the tills ringing.”

Markle’s influence when it comes to fashion is unquestionable. Whatever she wears tends to sell out in a few minutes. Because of this, she was considered by Lyst as the third most powerful fashion influencer in 2018. The Duchess of Sussex ranked behind Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, who bagged the first and second spots, respectively.

In related news, Markle was recently caught on camera reacting to her baby kicking inside her belly during a photoshoot. The Duchess of Sussex held her tummy and looked down as she gasped for air in the viral video. However, some netizens are still not convinced that she’s really pregnant. They believe that the clip was just done for PR.
