On the heels of her royal tour of Africa with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle may now be facing an undesirable legal circumstance. During her time on the trip, the Duchess of Sussex sent a "powerful message" by opting to forgo her engagement ring, broke "royal tour tradition," and shared private parts of her past. However, the former "Suits" actress may now have to face something a bit more difficult.

During the royal tour, Prince Harry released an emotional statment about the way the press has treated both him and his wife, while the royal couple also launched a lawsuit against the Daily Mail. Now, it looks as though the Duchess of Sussex could potentially face new legal proceedings as well. This new development is due to a decision made by her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

According to Express, the lawsuit originated around the decision to publicly release a "highly personal" letter. Allowing the piece to be published "was a breach of Meghan's copyright, infringed her privacy and was a breach of the Data Protection Act," stated the publication.

Reportedly, the Duke and Duchess hired "attack dog" lawyers Schillings as the case moves foward, which goes against the British royal family's preferred company, Harbottle & Lewis.

However, sources close to Mr. Markle now say that he is prepared to go to the UK in order to defend his actions if necessary. This, in turn, could result in the pair facing off in a courtroom.

"Tom speaking out to defend his actions as to why he let some of the letter's content be made public shows his intent, and he is adamant he was justified in doing so. He's prepared to say it to anyone including a judge," an insider revealed to Express.
