Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have found another way to one-up Kate Middleton and Prince William. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge only inspired one unauthorized Lifetime movie, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are about to get their third film.

Lifetime revealed Thursday that they’re making another “Harry & Meghan” movie, making it a trilogy. The working title is “Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace,” which indicates that the biopic will follow their retirement from being working royals.

The network confirmed that the film will portray “the couple’s controversial conscious uncoupling from the crown, after the birth of their son Archie. The movie details the struggles of the new parents and unique challenges of being part of the royal family, which ultimately led Harry and Meghan to give up their royal ties to forge a new life on their own terms.”

The script for Lifetime's third “Harry & Meghan” flick is being written by Scarlett Lacey and executive producers are Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss. The trio filled the same roles on the previous two films, which were both directed by Menhaj Huda. No word yet on if Huda will return.

“Escaping the Palace” follows 2018’s “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance,” which followed Prince Harry (Murray Fraser) and Meghan Markle (Parisa Fitz-Henley) as they fell in love and decided to get married. Meanwhile, 2019’s “Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal” chronicled Harry (Charlie Field) and Meghan’s (Tiffany Smith) first year of marriage. At press time, both films are available to watch on Lifetime's website with no log in required.

The cast has not been announced yet, so it isn’t clear if Meghan and Harry will be recast again or if the movie will utilize one of the casts from the first two films.

Meghan and Harry announced at the beginning of 2020 that they would step down as senior royals. Though they get to keep their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they are no longer carrying out engagements for Queen Elizabeth II.

They have also left the U.K. The Sussexes first moved to Canada, a Commonwealth country, but have since settled in Markle’s native California.

Markle also recently took part in her first movie since retiring from acting upon her engagement to Prince Harry. The “Suits” actress voiced the Disneynature movie “Elephants,” now available on Disney+.
