Royal fans everywhere were left waiting in anticipation after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed they would not be sharing news about their baby’s birth until they had time to bond as a family.

While the decision was based on the couple’s desire to have privacy during the special time in their lives, it may have cost them some popularity points with the people.

Royal expert Chris Ship told ITV that Megan and Prince Harry are in a tough situation when it comes to protecting their privacy and appeasing the public. “There is a difficult balance they have got going forward,” he explained.

Unlike other royal births, when Meghan and Harry’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor arrived, the couple didn’t immediately share details about the baby with the public.

“They didn’t want to tell us home birth or hospital if it was going to be a hospital they didn’t want to tell us where it was, we had to wait for the birth certificate to find that out,” Ship said.

“They wanted the minimum amount of information out there. A lot of people would rightly say they are entitled to that as it is a very private family moment, having a baby.”

Ship noted that Meghan and Harry are entitled to their privacy, but they are sending mixed messages. “The difficult path they have got to tread going forward is that if you are going to put a photo of Archie’s feet on Instagram where you have 8 million followers,” he said.

“Where is the line between we want privacy for our family and we are going to share bits of the journey with you and I think that is a really difficult line to tread.”

While Meghan and Prince Harry are able to use social media as a platform to inform the public about serious issues, it seems the couple is still trying to figure out how to maintain their privacy without losing fans.
