Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have always wanted to be international royals.

When the former “Suits” star joined the the Firm, royal fans were looking forward to seeing her with the royal trio Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry. Royal enthusiasts started to dub them the fab four.

However, it didn’t take long when Prince Harry announced that he would split his household from Prince William. The announcement was met by mixed reactions with some speculation that the Cambridges and the Sussexes were having a feud.

However, according to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had an agenda that was different from the royal family from the start.

“They had an agenda from the outset – to be international royals. They didn't want to just be stuck in one place,” Nicholl said. “Part of their vision is to be making a difference on the world stage and that entails being international. I was told from a very early stage in their courtship, they had told a friend of Harry's that Meghan met quite early on that they wanted to be international roving royals and that was going to be their focus.”

Nicholl was convinced that living abroad and working overseas have always been on the couple’s card. However, what caught her by surprise was the speed. She found it surprising because it was too fast.

Meanwhile, “Ladies of London” star Julie Montagu commented on the couple’s move to United States. She believed that Markle has “Americanized” Prince Harry by doing so and she loved it.

However, she didn’t expect that the couple would move to Los Angeles. According to her, she thought the royal couple would stay in Canada for good.

“I actually thought they were going to stay in Canada, just because I thought it would be more peaceful for them. I thought it was a good transition country — a good compromise,” she added.

In related news, Nicholl said that Prince Harry was feeling homesick in the U.S. However, he has already reconnected with his big brother Prince William.

“There have been clearly some quite major rifts in that relationship, but things have got better and I know that William and Harry are in touch on the phone,” Nicholl said.
