  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's decision to step back is still being criticized

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s recent announcement is reportedly as shocking as Princess Diana’s interview with Martin Bashir.

During a recent discussion on “Good Morning Britain,” host Susanna Reid asked photographer Andrew Edwards where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s surprising announcement stand among all of the royal events that he has photographed.

“I think it stands up with the Diana interview. As big as that. I remember when that interview came out, everything we thought happened to the royals came true. And this is everything we thought was happening to Meghan and Harry has come true,” he said.

Prior to the royal couple’s announcement, there have been ongoing speculations that Prince Harry and Markle are not on good terms with some members of the British clan. And before the holidays, the Sussexes announced that they will be celebrating outside London.

Days later, it was revealed that Prince Harry, Markle, and their son, Archie, stayed in Canada over the holidays and not in the United States. Not one photo from their trip was released except their family’s electronic Christmas card and 2019 highlights video.

Meanwhile, royal expert Dickie Arbiter said that he doesn’t think Prince Harry and Markle’s decision to step back from being senior royals and to raise their 7-month-old son on different continents is not the best move for them.

“I think they’re asking for trouble Harry and Meghan quite frankly. Because if you try and limit the coverage to the exclusion of everybody else, you’re going to leave yourself wide open to speculation, wrong stories appearing in social media, which I think has been their biggest problem,” he said.

Arbiter also said that people are still going to write negative stories about Prince Harry and Markle even if they are no longer in the spotlight.

In related news, Princess Diana’s 1995 interview rocked the royal family. At that time, the late royal talked about Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ affair. She also said that she doesn’t think the heir to the throne is suited to be the next king of Britain.
