Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle Sr., is trying to win his daughter back, according to a royal expert.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton recently told Yahoo’s “The Royal Box” that the former lighting director has been turning down television interviews and appearances to get on the Duchess of Sussex’s good side.

After Markle gave birth to her son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, Thomas released a statement to The Sun expressing his excitement over his grandson’s arrival. He also said that he’s looking forward to meeting him one day.

The 74-year-old resident of Mexico is reportedly doing everything he can to make sure that the Duchess of Sussex would allow him to meet Archie soon.

“Tom Markle has been very quiet recently. He’s been approached by Italian, French, German, and other TV stations to talk about his relationship with Meghan or non-relationship, and he turned them down,” Morton said.

Royal historian Anna Whitelock asked Morton if he thinks that Thomas’ comments about Archie’s birth were appropriate, respectful, and dignified. Morton said that’s exactly the case.

“So, what I’m saying is, he’s trying to keep his nose clean… Thomas has been quiet and will remain quiet if he’s not prodded,” he said.

Months ago, Thomas released his daughter’s letters where Prince Harry’s wife urged her dad to stop talking to tabloids. Markle said that if her dad really loves her as he said, he would stop giving interviews to the press. Since then, Thomas has been awfully quiet.

In fact, PR expert Nick Ede said that Thomas may even be the one to heal the rift between him, Markle, and the other members of their family. Ede said that he thinks Thomas is the one that would want to build a bridge and reconnect with his daughter.

Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, on the other hand, is all about making headlines. She recently gave out an interview where she targeted Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, for not encouraging the Duchess to talk to their dad.
