Numerous fans rejoiced when Palm Beach Atlantic University named Melania Trump as its 2020 Woman of Distinction, which is an honor given to women with great contributions to society. The wife of United States President Donald Trump is going to be the only honoree at the upcoming luncheon scheduled to take place on Feb. 29 at The Breakers.

“Our first lady is an exquisite human being, a magnificent wife and life partner, a superb mother and an outstanding first lady, who represents us brilliantly in the United States and worldwide,” Eileen Burns, co-chair of the event, told the Palm Beach Post of the FLOTUS. “Melania is a perfect example of a Woman of Distinction and we are most proud to honor her,” she went on.

Avid followers of Melania Trump took to social media to congratulate the FLOTUS on her latest reward. “Congratulations! You should win all of the awards! You are the embodiment of what a real lady is and should be,” one netizen wrote on Twitter. “About time people recognize what a great lady she is...” Cheryl Epperson said.

As per usual, Melania’s critics also expressed their thoughts about the award. Some netizens mocked the mom of Barron Trump and questioned the local school’s judgment.

“Wow! tiny local school throwing a bone to neighbor at Mar A Lago Palm Beach Atlantic University is a private Christian university in West Palm Beach, Florida, with an acceptance rate of 93% a graduation rate of only 54% with a meager 2227 Undergraduates. Got them Press though!” Julia Seattle commented. “another college contribution pays off! wondering if it came out of the rnc's fund, trump's bank account, or perhaps vlad offered it up as a small token of his appreciation for all the hard word dotard's been doing to help strengthen russia's standing,” Sam Godwell added.

There were also a few who took the opportunity to bring up old issues such as Melania Trump, allegedly, being a “birther” and a “plagiarist.” “Why? What has she done? She lied on her immigration status & visa applications. She is a perfect example of deceit,” Beth Donnelly stated. “I did not realize that having fully nude photos on the web and being a paid ex-"escort" (we know that means hooker but we can't say that now without getting sued) was the kind of "distinction" she would get an award for,” another Twitter user shared.

Some even claimed that Michelle Obama is more deserving of the award. “Michelle was a real and honorable first Lady. I miss her,” Sidney W. wrote. “I assume they just gave Melania this award to curry favor with Trump, the thought of Melania doing anything worthwhile/making any positive contributions in the world is utterly ridiculous... Michelle Obama, on the other hand, has rightfully earned herself a place in...” Cheryl Morris said. Melania Trump has yet to comment on these harsh remarks.

In Dec. 2019, Time reported that Melania Trump was voted as the second most-admired woman in the world. Taking 5% of the Gallup poll responses, the FLOTUS finished in the second spot after Michelle Obama, who took 10% of the poll responses.
