Martin Campbell’s new thriller has gained two new assets by nabbing Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson to star alongside Maggie Q in the upcoming action thriller “The Asset”.

According to Deadline, the story of “The Asset” involves two of the world’s deadliest assassins, Keaton’s Rembrandt and Maggie Q’s Anna, who “share a mysterious past from Vietnam.” The pair are suddenly thrust together when Anna’s mentor Moody (Jackson) gets murdered. The unlikely duo must return to Vietnam to hunt down the killer. Production for the film will begin in 2020 with shooting set in London, Bucharest, and Vietnam. “Equalizer 2” scribe Richard Wenk will be in charge of writing the script. Millennium Media, the company responsible for films like “The Expendables” and “Rush Hour” franchises, will be producing the film.

This will be the first time Keaton and Jackson will be on screen together. The two icons have had successful careers since the 80s, and both have also been a part of the MCU as well, with Keaton appearing in “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” while Jackson starred as Nick Fury in several films in the franchise.

“The Asset is the whole package, and we are excited to bring Richard Wenk’s masterful, muscular script to life with the all-star talent of Michael, Samuel, and Maggie,” Millennium’s Jeffrey Greenstein said. “Having a great director like Martin Campbell at the helm will make all the difference in turning this into a big, stylish, and action-packed thrill ride.”

A release date for “The Asset” has not been announced, but all three stars will be seen in other projects in the meantime.

Coming up for Keaton is Sara Colangelo’s biopic “What Is Life Worth” and Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of Chicago 7” which is set to release in September 2020. Meanwhile, Jackson is set for the release of “The Banker” with Anthony Mackie for Apple TV+ early next year as well as the sequel “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” with Ryan Reynolds and Salma Hayek. Maggie Q can next be seen in the upcoming horror film “Fantasy Island”, which releases on February 14, 2020.
