Academy-nominated actress Michelle Williams has opened up about expecting baby number three, calling the experience "totally joyous."

The 41-year-old “Dawson’s Creek” alum and her husband, “Hamilton” director Thomas Kail, are set to welcome their second baby in the fall, Variety reported.

“It’s totally joyous,” Williams told the outlet. “As the years go on, you sort of wonder what they might hold for you or not hold for you. It’s exciting to discover that something you want again and again, is available one more time. That good fortune is not lost on me or my family.”

Aside from her 1-year-old son Hart, whom she shares with Kail, Williams is also mom to 16-year-old Matilda, whose father is the late actor Heath Ledger.

Williams, who gave birth to Hart in 2020 during the lockdown, said raising her son in a period of uncertainty gave them a spark of hope.

“It was a reminder that life goes on,” Williams shared. “The world we brought a baby into is not the world we thought we were bringing a baby into, but the baby is ignorant of that. He experiences the unmitigated joy of discovery and the happiness of a loving home.”

She also said in the interview motherhood made her become more committed to her work as an actress, and encouraged her to bring more fire to her role as an advocate for pay equity and reproductive freedoms.

“There’s nothing that makes you committed to a better world than raising a great kid,” Williams said. “It’s the ultimate creative act.”

The actress has two films that are slated to be released this year -- the drama comedy “Showing Up” and the Steven Spielberg autobiographical coming-of-age film, “The Fabelmans,” where she plays a character based on the famed director’s mother.

Williams said she was planning to take a break until her baby was born.

“I got nothing. I wondered if I could work while I was pregnant, but I’m too tired,” she explained.

Williams started her campaign for equal pay in 2018 after finding out her “All The Money in the World” co-star Mark Wahlberg made $1.5 million to reshoot scenes in the crime drama, while she was paid a measly $80 per diem or a total of not more than $1,000 for reshoots in the project.
