After years of attempts to shed her iconic Disney character image, Miley Cyrus revealed on her Instagram Story, Thursday, that she had modeled her latest hairstyle on Hannah Montana.

Cyrus got her fans all excited about her new look as she posted teaser photos of her hair transformation with foil still covering her head. "Foil flip," she captioned one of her posts, responding to her fans’ excitement over her hair change with another post, saying "Stay tuned."

The final reveal came when she posted a shot of her long, wavy hair from the back, dyed a vibrant blonde. “#NoFilter #NoWig ALL ME!” she captioned it – which was an obvious homage to Hannah Montana, a character which donned a blonde wig every time she stepped on the stage to sing, in order to keep her popstar persona separate from her ordinary teenage life.

To complete her look, she added blonde bangs as well as hair extensions. “It was so hard going back and forth I just decided I’ll be Hannah forever,” the singer said in a video posted on Twitter where she showed off her new look. “She was getting a lot of press this week. Thanks to me.”

Needless to say, fans who grew up watching and loving Cyrus as Montana, could not hold back their joy after witnessing her hair transformation.

Sunday was the 13th anniversary of “Hanna Montana” pilot episode titled "Lilly, Do You Want to Know a Secret?". In order to celebrate it, the 26-year-old singer took to Twitter to share a photograph of her younger self, noting the significant date for the hit series. According to Billboard, the photo was of Cyrus at the Nashville airport, preparing to fly to Los Angeles to "Hannah Montana" set.

On the same day, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley’s father, who also played her on-screen dad in the show, shared a photo on social media featuring younger versions of cast members Emily Osment, Jason Earles, and Mitchel Musso, to mark the occasion.
