Secrets have always proven to cause some trouble for the group when they remain hidden, but that doesn’t mean an attempt won’t be made to keep some of them from coming out—even if they have the power to change everything on “A Million Little Things.”

Gary (James Roday) and Maggie (Allison Miller) have both been struggling since their split a few months back, especially as they try to strike a new balance as friends on the ABC series. Now, it appears Maggie is ready to take a big step in her post-Gary life in Season 2, episode 5, “The Lunch.”

According to a preview clip for the episode, Maggie will decide that after being single for four months and dealing with not only her cancer checkup and the truth about Eric (Jason Ritter) being revealed, that she needs to take advantage of the Boston dating scene—even though Gary still secretly is in love with her and wants to reunite.

“I’m young, I'm attractive, I need to get back out there,” she says in the clip.

However, Gary’s feelings could propel him to take an unexpected action as he learns about her efforts.

“Gary accidentally crashes Maggie’s first date with a new guy,” a synopsis for the episode reads.

Sure enough, the clip also shows Gary approaching Maggie while she is on her date, which could lead to him then being pulled away by Regina (Christina Moses), who demands to know why he won’t be honest with Maggie and explain what he actually wants.

“Why don’t you just tell her how you feel?” she asks in the clip.

“I can’t put myself out there again,” he replies.

Will they ever have a chance to see the couple reunite? Or will they be split up for good and move on with new people?

“A Million Little Things” airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
