Mindy Kaling has shared the photo of her son, Spencer, who turned one this Friday. The actress says the boy's character is a little different from his elder sister, 3-year-old Katherine.

The 42-year-old actress took to Instagram on Monday to reveal that she celebrated her son's birthday on Friday. "My daughter Kit is pretty cautious with new people. Not this guy," she wrote.

"If you happen to make eye contact with Spencer, he lights up like you are old war buddies and he makes a beeline to you," she added. "I had Spencer during Covid and it was a strange isolated time, but the instant I saw him I knew he would make everything better. And he did! Happy birthday, Spike!"

In a photo she shared Monday, the little one's face wasn't visible as it was taken from behind. Spencer could be seen reaching out for a balloon. A Micky Mouse's head, a black pram and many toys are also visible in the photo.

Actress Reese Witherspoon wrote, "Oh sweetness!! Happy Birthday, Spencer! We love you!," while Canadian fashion stylist Jessica Mulroney commented, "Happy birthday to my favorite family. You are an incredible mom!"

British television personality Tan France commented, "OMG, your baby is 1 already? Where did the time go?!"

"Never Have I Ever" star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan wrote, "Happy bday!! great balloon taste spencer!"

Kaling is a single mother. She opened up about parenting in 2019. "My feeling is that until I speak to my daughter about [her father], I'm not going to talk to anyone else about it," she told The New York Times.

The actress is a regular on the TV series "Access Hollywood" and she appeared on "CBS This Morning" last month. She also lent her voice to Disney's animated comedy adventure "Monsters at Work."

The actress also served as an executive producer on Netflix's popular series "Never Have I Ever." She will produce HBO Max's teen comedy-drama "The Sex Lives of College Girls."
