After receiving a distress call on Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard announced Sunday that it had suspended its search for a man and his three children capsized off the coast of Maine. According to the man’s distress call, he and his kids were wearing bright orange life jackets, and that the 14-foot boat had flipped over 12 miles of the coast of Kennebunkport, Maine.

“Children are in the water...I'm going to try and get the kids on the top of the boat and lift them up if possible,” the father said in his distress call. “If not, we're all going to just huddle in the water.”

The Coast Guard suspended their search officially at 8:21 a.m. on Sunday, the Associated Press reported. Their initial search lasted 22 hours after radio contact was lost with the man.

Lt. Matthew Odom said that no signs of boats, debris, or people were found during the search which 1,523 nautical miles.

“We utilized every resource at our disposal and applied an extraordinary amount of search effort to locate these boaters," Cdr. James McLay, Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator at Sector Northern New England, said, according to NBC News. "If there was anyone in distress we gave them the best possible chance for rescue.
