  • An email sent by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment teased the arrival of Ash Williams as the game's next DLC character
  • William's name was included in the game's current DLC lineup which includes "The Terminator," "Joker" and "Spawn"
  • The "Army of Darkness" protagonist was first seen in the game's code during its launch
  • A dataminer also discovered Ash's name in a code earlier this week

“Mortal Kombat” is well-known known to add third-party characters into their lineup to fight against the Tournament's iconic names like Liu Kang, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, among others.

From Arnold Schwarzenegger's “The Terminator,” “Joker” and, most currently, Todd McFarlane's “Spawn,” “Mortal Kombat 11” may be poised to welcome a new DLC – Ash Williams.

For those that don't know who Ash Williams is, he is the chainsaw-for-a-hand protagonist in the 1993 cult classic, “Army of Darkness” of the “Evil Dead” franchise. He is so popular among horror movie buffs that Renaissance Pictures and Lionsgate Television came up with a series called “Ash vs Evil Dead.”

Ash's possible inclusion in “Mortal Kombat 11” came in an email sent by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. IGN, who was among to receive the news, reported that Ash's name was added to the list of current third-party fighters. The character was even trademarked, giving the news a bigger question mark.

Comic Book, who was also able to receive the email, said that it was sent out to “Mortal Kombat 11” players to inform them that “Spawn” is now available. They even took time to reach out to Warner Bros. for a possible confirmation, but they were told there was “no comment” from the game's team at this time.

Video Gamer on the other said reported that this isn't the first time Ash's name was involved in “Mortal Kombat 11.” Upon its launch in April of last year, an Ashley Joanna “Ash” Williams was discovered in the game's code. At the same time, a dataminer also found Ash's name alongside Sheeva and Fujin in a code earlier this week.

For what he's worth, Ash would be a welcome sight in “Mortal Kombat 11.” But for now, his fans and the game's players who eagerly anticipate his arrival should treat the news as a rumor unless something legit comes from Warner Bros. Or NetherRealm Studios.
