A woman woke up to find her 15-year-old daughter dead in bed inside their Georgia apartment.

Three 18-year-old suspects who are believed to be "acquaintances" of the girl victim were arrested in connection with her death, 11Alive reported.

The victim, Madison Gesswein, had an injury to her head when she was found by her mother in her bed inside their Peachtree City home at around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The mother had reportedly woken up to get ready for work and noticed a light on in Gesswein's bedroom. However, her door was locked.

The mother eventually managed to enter her daughter's bedroom. When she got inside, she saw that the window was open and the blinds were "a mess." It was then that she found her daughter.

She called 911 and told the dispatcher about her shocking discovery.

"There's a lot of blood," the mother said at the time, adding that she "can't get any response from her."

When the dispatcher asked if there was anyone else who could help her, the mother said her son was also in the house but was fast asleep.

The dispatcher guided the mother to get the victim in the right position so CPR could be performed on her until help arrived. The mother then continued receiving instructions and performed CPR compressions until first responders took over.

Officials said a medical examiner will determine the exact cause of Gesswein's death. However, police said the victim's head injury suggests she was fatally shot.

"She does have an injury to her head, I can't really elaborate further on the nature of that," Matt Myers, assistant chief of Peachtree City Police, said.

Three 18-year-old suspects — Justus Smith, Jacobean Brown and Yeshua Mathis — were quickly identified after Gesswein was found. Cops located two of the suspects together in the same house, while the third 18-year-old was found inside a Fayetteville home.

All three were arrested and charged with murder. They are being held at the Fayette County Jail.

Who pulled the trigger on the teenage victim remains unclear, according to WSB-TV.

"We're still investigating an exact motive and the role of each person involved," Myers added. "This was not a random act. They knew whose apartment they were at."

Officials from the Whitewater High School said Smith and Mathis were students of the school. Gesswein was also studying at the same school.
